Children's Jewelry

Who says only adults can wear jewelry? With the rising popularity of children’s jewelry, many young girls have been collecting gems in their treasure boxes. In the meantime there is a growing concern for chemicals used in such products which may pose health threats to children.

STC is offering comprehensive Children’s Jewelry testing to ensure product safety and quality. As excess content of heavy metal may trigger contact allergies and dermatitis, children’s jewelry and accessories, such as bracelets, earrings, necklaces and rings, must comply with Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) chemical regulations for nickel release, lead, cadmium and phthalates to be marketed in the EU.

Those intended for markets in the United States must comply with chemical limits set forth by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F2923-11 and California’s Proposition 65. STC also performs testing on mechanical requirements for Children’s Jewelry, including but not limited to measurement of tension, compression and flammability under the condition of repeated and prolonged use.
